Your website might still "work", but that does not mean it is helping your business. Here are seven simple signs that it is time for a refresh.
1. It is hard to use on a phone
Open your website on your phone. Do you need to zoom in to read? Are buttons too small to tap? Most of your visitors are on mobile, so this matters most.
2. It loads slowly
If a page takes more than a few seconds to appear, many people leave. Big photos and old code are the usual reasons.
3. The information is out of date
Old prices, old staff photos, a "2019 promotion" banner or wrong opening hours all make visitors doubt you.
4. People cannot find how to contact you
Your phone number, WhatsApp and enquiry form should be easy to find on every page. If customers have to search for them, many will give up.
5. It does not look like your business today
Maybe you have a new logo, new services or a more premium shop. If your website still shows the old version of you, it is time to catch up.
6. You are not getting enquiries from it
A website should bring calls, messages or orders. If it brings almost nothing, something is not working: the message, the design or how people find it.
7. You are embarrassed to share the link
This one is simple. If you would rather not send your website to a new client, your customers probably feel the same way.
What to do next
You do not always need to start from zero. Begin with the quick wins:
- Make it work well on mobile
- Speed it up by compressing photos
- Update content, prices and photos
- Add clear contact and WhatsApp buttons
